The weekend started with another massacre, as FK Minsk destroyed Vitebsk, who appear to be going backwards after their promising debut against Neman in week 1. The difference in class was apparent with Minsk simply looking too fast, fitter and too skilful for a game but limited Vitebsk side. The outstanding Pogegailo grabbed 4 goals, whilst Surovtseva and Marchyk notched hat-tricks as Minsk matched the 16 goals Dinamo scored against ABFF U19 last week.
After two free headers from Novikova and Valyuk in the first 15 minutes, it looked like Dinamo Minsk would record another monster victory in Mogilev. However, Dnepr did not roll-over, and kept out Dinamo for the rest of the game. Indeed, at times they played some nice passing football, albeit without unduly threatening to score, and keeper Svidunovich, recalled to the national squad for the forthcoming friendly matches in Uzbekistan, looked assured in competently dealing with all subsequent efforts on the Dnepr goal. Dnepr reinforced the good impression from week 2 and look good contenders for a top 5 finish this season.
However, the next match of the round did indeed see another lop-sided score, with Zorka thumping Region of Gomel 13-0. After a 9-0 half-time score, Gomel managed to stem the tide for most of the second half, as Zorka were only able to add two more until the last three minutes, when Zorka scored twice. The Gomel keeper was stretchered off during the second half and replaced by an outfield player, captain Anna Shilo, who didn’t look any worse between the sticks, although being the shortest player on the pitch would definitely not been able to touch the cross-bar !
For Zorka Diana Tropnikova took the opportunity to improve her goal scoring statistics with 6 goals, whilst Diana Bakum helped herself to 4 goals.
Predictably Neman ran-up a cricket score against Dinamo Brest but failed to take the record score for the season so far. They led 10-0 at half-time, but only went onto win 15-0. Dudko was on target 6 times, Zuweratu scored 4 and Nana grabbed a hat-trick. Neman appeared to declare with 20 minutes to play, after which they failed to score and Dinamo even created a couple of half chances.
After hastily being put together and suffering a 16-0 drubbing at the hands of Dinamo Minsk, ABFF U19 looked to be huge underdogs going into their game against Bobruichanka, who had performed respectably in losing only 0-6 to Dinamo and 0-4 to FK Minsk. However, the mostly 17 year old side representing ABFF U19 looked to have learned a few lessons from their heavy defeat and appeared to be better organised defensively, and grew in confidence the longer the game remained scoreless. That said, Bobruichanka dominated the match but wasted a number of chances through poor finishing, choosing wrong options, plus a combination of scrambled defence and some reasonable saves. ABFF U19 will again have learned greatly from the experience, whilst Bobruichanka will definitely see this as two points dropped,
Despite the goalless draw, there was still 48 goals in the 5 matches, and in the whole season to-date there has been only one match out of 13 in which both sides have scored Already it seems a safe bet to predict the top 5 will consist of Dinamo Minsk, FK Minsk, Neman, Zorka and Dnepr, whilst the bottom 5 will be Bobruichanka, ABFF U19, Vitebsk, Dinamo Brest and Gomel
