Dinamo-BGU Minsk 4-0 Zorka BGU ( att : 67 )

FC Gomel 2-6 FK Smorgon  ( att : 38 )

At the start of round 13 of the Belarus Women’s Premier League, the top of the table had a familiar look with Dinamo BGU Minsk having a 100% record ahead of FK Minsk, whose only dropped points had come in a 0-1 loss to Dinamo. A 59th minute penalty from Anastasia Shuppo had separated the two sides in a closely contested match.

However, below the top two the league was much more competitive, apart from the bottom two sides, FC Gomel and Dyussh Polesgu, who were cast well adrift.

Dinamo kept their 100% record with a regulation 4-0 victory over 4th placed Zorka BGU, who played in an all-black kit rather than their fetching pink shirts. Following a red card last week to first choice keeper Victoria Krylova, Zorka took to the field with midfielder Viktoria Gerus wearing the gloves. Gerus, who had scored 4 goals so far this season, had played in goal before but is a stronger outfield player. Nevertheless, her handling throughout was good but Zorka were twice undone from corners.

Gerus had dealt with everything the champions had thrown at her in the first half until the 42nd minute. Linnik’s corner sailed over the outstretched arms of Gerus as well as two defenders on the link to sneak into the top far corner of the goal. Zorka were a tad unfortunate not to equalise on the stroke of half-time as Tatiana Shereshovets’ cross-cum-shot from the right rolled along the bar and away to safety. Had it gone in it would have been the first goal conceded by Dinamo in their 12 games this season.

Dinamo doubled their lead in the 65th minute as Valyuk was left unmarked to finish from 6 yards, and after 75 minutes Zorka again failed to defend a corner with Alina Shcherbo being credited with an own goal, although it looked like it might have come off Valyuk. Dinamo wrapped up the scoring two minutes later when Linnik put Tatiana Petrusevich clear to powerfully finish into the roof of the net.

FK Minsk kept up the chase by also winning 4-0, at home to ABFF U19, with Melena Surovtseva grabbing all 4 goals, with two in each half, and she also hit the post being denied by a finger tipped save. Surovtseva now has 20 goals to her name this season to head the league scoring charts.

Surovtseva’s first goal was a left-footed steer over the keeper from 8 yards and the second came after a delightful piece of skill to turn past Lada Pashkovskaya to fire home from just inside the area. The unfortunate Pashkovskaya was involved in the third goal 6 minutes into the second half, colliding with team-mate Markova to present to the ball to Voskobovich who squared to leave Surovtseva an open goal. The final goal was a header from a corner inside the 6 yard box to give Surovtseva a perfect hat-trick.

Third placed Dnepr Mogilev extended their unbeaten run to 7 games with a 2-1 win at improving Dinamo Brest, for whom centre-back Anna Mukha had an outstanding game.

The scores were level at the interval, and Dinamo’s Litvinyuk had scorned a great opportunity just before the break.

Dnepr opened the scoring two minutes into the second half. Karolina Zhitko made a strong run from the half-way but looked to have lost possession to Irina Katrosha. With Katrosha and keeper Vinograd leaving the ball to each other, Zhitko managed to get a foot to it to prod into the net flattening Katrosha in the process. The injury to the Dinamo defender was so severe she couldn’t continue and needed treatment on the side of the pitch for quite some time. In the English Premier League VAR would probably have disallowed the goal for a foul.

Dnepr then dominated play. Zhitko had a goal disallowed for off-side, Yatsushkevich shot straight at the keeper from 6 yards but Dnepr’s second goal after 70 minutes had an element of good fortune to it. Dinamo’s Krakhmalova pulled up with what looked like a hamstring injury, leaving Nestyukovich in space and free to cross to the near post. Mikhaylova’s left footed swipe arched in to the far corner more by luck than judgement.

The home team had a lifeline 10 minutes from time. Mukha’s through ball saw Sidorchuk and Dnepr keeper Zaletova and defender Ivanova all competing for it. All three collided with each other, leaving the loose ball for Dinamo’s Kazak to plant into the unguarded net.

Although Dinamo strived for the equaliser, they failed to put Dnepr under any real pressure, and the visitors could have added a third, but Nestyukovich missed badly and Zhitko forced a good diving save from Vinograd.

FK Smorgon leapt in 5th place after predictably beating FC Gomel. Less predictable was Gomel actually scoring twice in their 2-6 loss, after having scored only once in their previous 11 matches.

Gomel’s first goal came just before half-time after Anna Reut made a good run down the right and played the ball across the face of the goal, which the lively Maria Pavlova met to put into the roof of the net with her left foot. Just desserts for Pavlova !

Their second came in the last minute of the second half. Taranova’s corner caused confusion and the referee judged the ball had crossed the line during the skirmishes, and Giros was credited with an own goal.

However, Smorgon were never in danger in the game and they took advantage of Gomel’s usual defensive failings, as their goal against column increased to 74 for the season. Three of The Bears’ goals were howlers from keeper Anna Arlanova, gifting goals to Natetkova, Sidorchuk and Duben, whilst two more were poor marking at corners from which Linnik and Duben profited. Their second goal was a thunderbolt from Elizabeth Bolotyanova into the top corner after a corner was only partially cleared.

The other back-markers, Dyussh Polesgu, also lost 2-6, and like Gomel also scored their second and third goals of the season. For Bobruichanka, 41 year-old ex-international Olga Aniskovtseva ( 8 caps ) scored 4 of their goals, three of them top class finishes, with fellow 41 year old Oksana Shkap scoring from the penalty spot. 18 year old Polina Tsybulskaya was the other scorer for the Bobruisk side.

The visitors from Pinsk had opened the scoring through Anastasia Ogievich, forcing the ball over the line from close range after a goal-keeping fumble, and ended the scoring as Aniskovtseva blotted her copybook with an own goal trying to clear a corner at the near post.

The only points for Dyussh Polesgu and FC Gomel came with they played each other. Unsurprisingly it finished 0-0 !
